Ria Murphy

Head of Social Studies

I will be returning to GEMS Metropole school this year to start another fantastic year. I began my journey in MTS as a Year 1 teacher and will be returning for my third year as a Year 2 teacher. I am looking forward to begin my new role as the Head of Social Studies and I am excited for the new challenges and experiences it will bring to my career as well as developing the curriculum for our students.

I was born and have grown up in Bedfordshire, England. I am a graduate of Middlesex University, London where I graduated with a Bachelors Honors (BA) degree in Primary Education with qualified teacher status and a specialism in Science.

Prior to moving to Dubai, I had been working at River Bank Primary School, a 4-form entry school in Luton, Bedfordshire as a Year 1 teacher. I also have 3 years’ experience providing children aged 5-11 private tuition to support with their academic attainment. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time at the gym keeping fit and healthy as well as spending time with family and friends.

I believe it Is very important to provide a safe and stimulating environment for our students at school. I always set high expectations for my students and ensure they develop a love of learning as well as making excellent progress throughout the year. I am able to support children of all abilities and believe it is important that each child has the opportunity to be confident and competent learners and exceed in their learning.

I look forward to meeting you!
