English as an Additional Language Teacher
Hello! I am an EAL teacher who has taught both primary and secondary students at GEMS Metropole during the past four years. I am looking forward to another fulfilling year of working with the wonderful students, parents and staff at this great school.
I am from America and have a B.A. degree in Anthropology as well as CELTA and PGCPP Certificates. It is always an amazing journey to see EAL students come into school knowing very little English and progressing to becoming confident individuals who thrive in their new environment and language. Their perspectives of the world changes with their newfound proficiency in English.
I believe in the importance of an inclusive, diverse learning environment which provides wonderful opportunities where we can celebrate everyone’s differences. Language is vital in our social, emotional and academic development. Children are curious by nature and are always excited to learn through discovery. By building a strong foundation in English, students will be able to strengthen and improve their skills every day. I believe each child is unique and by incorporating their different learning styles in a positive, student-centered environment, they will be able to reach their full potential. This, in turn, will lead them to become lifelong learners.
