Katherine Kinloch

Assistant Head of Secondary (Acting)

My name is Katherine Kinloch and I am one of the pastoral leaders and Head of Year in Secondary at GEMs Metropole.  I have over 15 years of teaching experience both in the UK and Internationally teaching in UK and US curriculum school.  During this time I have gained experience in leadership as a Head of Year and Head of Middle school for the last 6 years.

Originally from Scotland, I have now been in Dubai for 10 years.  With both my children being born here, I very much feel like this our family home and enjoy the wide variety of experienced Dubai has to offer.  When not in school you can often find us at Motiongate, the park playing football or down at the beach.

After gaining my degree in Politics and Social Policy from the University of Glasgow and my PGCE from the University of Aberdeen, i spent 6 years working in Scottish Secondary Schools teaching Politics and Sociology.  I enjoyed working closely with the Scottish Parliament, European Union and St. Andrews University and was lucky enough to travel to Brussels and Uganda representing my School region in international events.  Building on this experience, I followed my passion to work with students in the pastoral side of education. I enjoy helping students gain valuable life experiences outside the classroom through sports, volunteering, work experience and the Duke of Edinburgh Award, encouraging students to take part in extra curricular activities whatever their level of ability.

During my time at Metropole I very delighted with the warm welcome the MTS family and community.

I’m very much looking forward to continuing to support our students and parents, and wish you all a happy and successful year ahead.
