Chris Seeley

Head of Secondary School,
Leadership Team

My Name is Christopher Seeley and I am the Head of Secondary School at GEMS Metropole School. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our school. Over the past year our secondary school has evolved and improve rapidly and has become a dynamic, supportive and forward thinking place for all of our students to learn. I have very high expectations, strong values and a clear focus on honesty, trust and respect while trying to ensure that I have a positive effect on our school community and environment. It is very pleasing as the Head of School that these values are now being reflected in the positive feedback that I am receiving regularly about our school. Every day our students surprise me with their new ideas and their ability to find and talk about the new ways in which they are learning.

I was born and brought up in St.Andrews on the East coast of Scotland before graduating from the University of Edinburgh with an honors degree in Education. My teaching and leadership journey took me through a number of department and faculty head roles in five very different schools both in the UK and internationally with GEMS Education over the past 19 years. My background in Sport (teaching, competing and coaching internationally) has naturally crossed over to my professional life and I continue to look for new opportunities to improve practice or find innovative ways to improve what we do.

I understand the impact that a high profile school such as GEMS Metropole can have on the lives of students, parents and the local community and I see these positive relationships as being an integral part of our school’s success. Further to this I believe strongly that curricular and extra-curricular activities can be linked together in a forward thinking and co-curricular way as our school continues to grow and develop.

Outside of school I continue to compete internationally as an Ironman all world athlete in the sport of triathlon while retaining a strong interest in all areas of health, fitness and wellbeing. While sport in general influences many things both in my work and home life, time spent with my family is of utmost importance. I am very happy to call Dubai my home and my family continues to grow and flourish here in the UAE. My two sons have almost completed their first year in our school and I am as excited as any parent to see them supported to grow and learn holistically as they move through our school.
