English as an Additional Language Specialist Teacher
Hello! My name is Chloe Lannon and this is my third year as part of the Metropole EAL Team. I moved to Dubai from Ireland in 2018 and it has been an amazing experience. I am looking forward to all that the next year brings. I began my third level education by studying a Liberal Arts degree in English and Irish in Mary Immaculate College, Ireland in 2010. I chose to study an ACELS accredited TEFL certificate as my elective subject during my second year of this course. I then went on to study a Professional Master of Education in Primary Teaching, also in Mary Immaculate College.
Since graduating, I have worked in a range of settings in rural and urban primary schools in Ireland, teaching in mainstream, inclusion and EAL roles. I have also taught international students in EAL summer schools who travel to Ireland each summer to improve their English.
I find teaching English as an Additional Language very rewarding. As the children improve their language skills, it benefits them not only academically but also socially as they can communicate and interact with their peers and carry out everyday tasks with ease. It is wonderful to see their confidence grow as they progress. As a teacher, my main aim is to enable each child to reach their full potential.
I am delighted to be part of the Metropole team again this year and look forward to meeting all of the new students, parents and staff.
