My name is Adam Hassoun and I am excited to be whole school Executive Vice Principal at GEMS Metropole
I am from a small town in mid-Wales called Llandrindod Wells. I have a mixed background with a Palestinian father and an English mother but if you ask me, I will tell you I’m Welsh. I’m the proud and privileged father of Jack, my 2-year-old son
In 2002 I graduated in Sports Science and Education Studies from Newman University, Birmingham and became a qualified teacher the following year. My experience to date includes nearly 20 years of teaching across two different curriculums: The National Curriculum for England and the International Baccalaureate programme, whilst working in both primary and secondary schools. I spent 3 years teaching Biology and Physical Education in the UK before moving abroad to teach in Kuwait, Malaysia and Qatar then latterly settling in the UAE
I am a keen sportsman with a particular passion for rugby. I still compete at rugby and football but with age no longer on my side I find myself on the side lines more than actually on the pitch. I love to travel and try to fill up as much of my free time with seeing as much of the world as possible and I have been fortunate enough to visit many wonderful places so far
It is my belief that education should be fun, explorative, purposeful and personalised. I embrace the educational philosophy of equipping children with the learning skills and life-long learning dispositions necessary for them to embrace the challenges of an ever-changing world.
