Deputy Head of Primary
My name is Tara Foster and I am delighted to hold the post of Deputy Head of Primary at GEMS Metropole School. I completed a BA (Hons) degree in English Literature and Teaching Studies, obtained from the University of Surrey, Roehampton in 2002 and have experience teaching and leading in schools in the UK, Spain and the UAE.
I started my teaching career, first taking on the post of a Key Stage 1 teacher in an international school in Spain, before moving to a large primary school in England where I became Head of Key Stage 2 and Assistant Head Teacher. I have taught all year groups and held various leadership roles, including Early Years, English, Maths and Assessment leader. I find being a part of the leadership team exciting and rewarding.
In 2018, I was delighted to become Head of Upper Key Stage 2 and Primary English leader at GEMS Metropole School and therefore taking up the post of Deputy Head of the Primary has felt very natural. Last year was an exciting year with new initiatives put in place such as Accelerated Reader and this was reflected in our end of year assessments. This year we have many activities planned to ensure that the curriculum is rich and exciting, so please remember to check on the D6 regularly and read newsletters so that you are kept fully informed.
Teaching has always been a passion for me and over the years, it has been wonderful to see so many pupils make progress both academically and socially. I am, at heart, a teacher – I simply love teaching and feel that a classroom should be inspirational and life-changing to all who pass through its doors. I am passionate in instilling a love of learning into our students which will stay with them for the years ahead. GEMS Metropole is a fabulous school – it’s greatest asset being our students who are highly motivated, enthusiastic and really involved in their learning.
Out of school my passion in life is spending time with my family. My Husband works as a construction manager and both my son and daughter are at GEMS Metropole school. We love to travel and experience new cultures. We spend most of our spare time outdoors at the beach or pool and enjoy cycling, snorkelling and kayaking.
I am thrilled to be a part of the MTS team and I look forward to working with the community to continue to build a school which is unique, special and a complete joy to be part of.
