Introduction to Sixth Form

Sixth Form Course Offerings

Dear Parents,

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to you GEMS Metropole School’s Sixth Form offerings for the next academic year, which will see our first cohort of students moving on from their (I)GCSE studies into “Sixth Form”.

After much reflection, GEMS Metropole School staff have developed a solid and appropriate offering of subject choices to enable our students to meet their aspirations in terms of either their university choicesor their career paths. We have included a number of exciting A-Level subject options as well as looking into suitable Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) Level 3 vocational courses, which will constitute the foundation of the Post-16 Phase provision. With careful subject selection, we firmly believe our students will be capable of accessing highly regarded career opportunities throughout their lives. It is an expectation that students study four A-Levels, taught by highly experienced teachers, who are specialists in their respective fields.

Our Sixth Form will also inspire our school student leaders to follow the guiding principles of our school, to develop academically, culturally and physically through a commitment to academic achievement and success; by being responsible citizens when representing the school through community service; and by displaying an overall commitment to tolerance and respect in all they undertake.

In 2018, we will be asking parents to visit the school and meet with teachers to enhance their understanding of the Sixth Form provision, in order that we can all support the students make the best and most appropriate selection choices.
