Catharine Snell

My name is Ms. Catharine Snell, and I am the Head of Science at GEMS Metropole School. I have always had a passion for science, and I completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry at the University of Leeds. I recently also completed a Master of Science in Medical Chemistry. I have experience of teaching at British and American curriculum schools in both UK and the UAE. I am now in my ninth year at GEMS Metropole, and I am delighted to be part of the community here.

I consider myself to be an outgoing and confident individual. I enjoy inspiring and encouraging my students to be independent thinkers by providing them with responsibility for their own learning withing the classroom. I have tended to focus on student centered learning through STEAM based activities and encourage the use of technology within the classroom where appropriate, which I believe allows students to become critical thinkers and prepares students for life beyond the classroom as part of our global society.

I live in Dubai, with my husband and our rescue dog Tintin. In our spare time, we like to spend time with family and friends, travel and go to concerts.
