Sean Ibison

Head of Year 6

Hello, my name is Sean Ibison and this will be my third year at GEMS Metropole School, my eleventh year overall as a teacher. I come from a seaside town in the north-west of England called Southport. I taught there for three years before moving to the U.A.E. where I have been since 2018.

I absolutely love teaching in such a vibrant and diverse country as it helps me learn so much about different nationalities, cultures and traditions - you’re never too old to be a student!

I like to remind students that we all make mistakes and that mistakes serve an important service as we can reflect and learn from them.

This approach has helped my students become more confident in the classroom and have no fear when dealing with the likes of fraction questions, creating an experiment or writing a report about space.

As the new Head of Year 6, I’m excited to welcome you to what will be a truly special year. Year 6 is a time to grow in confidence, take on new responsibilities and make lasting memories as leaders of the school community.

In my spare time I love to play sports, including football, golf and padel and I am a huge Liverpool FC fan. I also enjoy cooking, listening to podcasts and spending quality time with my dog, Johnny.
