Finley Mitchell

My name is Finley Mitchell and I am from Sheffield, UK. This will be my first year at GEMS Metropole School, after previously completing 2 years at Astrea Academy Sheffield.

I completed my Post Graduate Masters in Teaching at Sheffield Hallam University, England and my Undergraduate Degree is in Sport & Exercise Science. I have 3 years teaching experience, as well as coaching experience across a range of sports ranging from after school clubs to summer camps.

Having come from an extensive sporting background in Football & Cricket, I have personally experienced the positive impact that sport and physical activity can have on a young person’s development. Through both competitive sport and coaching, I have developed a deep understanding of the importance of teamwork, resilience, discipline, leadership, and confidence that participation in sport can build. These experiences have shaped my approach to teaching and continue to inspire my passion for helping students grow both physically and personally.

My educational philosophy centres around creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student feels encouraged to participate, challenge themselves, and develop confidence through physical activity. I strongly believe that sport and physical education play a vital role in promoting not only physical wellbeing, but also teamwork, resilience, leadership, and lifelong healthy habits.

Outside of school, I have a keen interest in fitness, sport, and travel, and I am excited to begin this new chapter in Dubai. I look forward to becoming part of the school community and contributing to the continued success and wellbeing of all students.
