David Carter

HMy name is David Carter and I am originally from Birmingham in the UK. I am now moving into my third year at GEMS Metropole School, where I teach Business Studies. I am looking forward to another exciting academic year and continuing to support students in developing their understanding of the world of business.

I studied Business and Marketing at Sheffield Hallam University, which helped develop my interest in how businesses operate, make decisions and respond to the changing world around them. As a Business teacher, I enjoy bringing this real-world relevance into the classroom and helping students make clear links between what they learn in lessons and the business environment beyond school.

I believe Business Studies is an important subject because it encourages students to think critically, solve problems, communicate ideas and understand the world around them. In my lessons, I aim to create an engaging and supportive environment where students feel confident to ask questions, take part in discussions, apply their knowledge and challenge themselves to reach their full potential.

I am passionate about helping students become independent learners who can analyse information, justify decisions and reflect on their own progress. I enjoy encouraging students to develop a growth mindset and to see mistakes as part of the learning process, particularly when building confidence with exam technique and extended written responses.

Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, travelling, spending time with friends and family, and keeping active through sport. I am excited for the year ahead at Metropole and look forward to helping students continue to grow in confidence, independence and ambition.
