Nadeem Suleman

Head of Mathematics

My name is Nadeem Suleman, and I grew up in London, England before moving to Dubai in 2018. I have been at GEMS Metropole since 2021, and have taken on many roles here, including Second in Department for Maths, and assistant Head of Year. I am excited to be moving into the role of Head of Maths.

My background is varied and after completing my A Levels, I started a design degree at the London College of Fashion before completing a BEng in Mechanical Engineering at Queen Mary, University of London in 2007. In 2009, I completed my PGCE in Secondary Maths at Middlesex University in London.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked in the private medical sector in London, focussing mainly on accounting and quality assurance.

I have taught in all kinds of schools, including single sex, mixed, grammar and free schools and have worked with educational charities that build aspirations for borderline students. During my time as a teacher, I have taken the lead on many projects, including data analysis, curriculum development, student well-being, staff development, and mentoring and coaching.

I enjoy teaching mathematics and am constantly in awe of how often it relates to the real world, whether explicitly or in a more abstract sense. I believe that all students can achieve given the right conditions and work ethic. With a strong foundational base of knowledge, learning the thought processes associated and applications of mathematics can be a truly transformative experience.
