Jessica Storey

My name is Miss Storey, and I am proud to be entering my ninth year of teaching and my fifth year teaching within the MFL department at GEMS Metropole School. I am also very delighted to be Head of Year 7 within the Active School this academic year.

I am from the North of England and have taught French, German and Spanish for five years in the UK before joining the international education community. I hold a Joint Honours Degree in Modern Foreign Languages from the University of Hull, which included a placement year teaching in an international school in Germany and studying at the University of Seville in Spain. I went on to complete my PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages at the University of Newcastle in 2018.

I take pride in supporting students as they grow and progress throughout their academic journeys. My teaching philosophy centers around encouraging learners to challenge themselves, aim high and embrace opportunities both in and beyond the classroom.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy scuba diving, swimming, reading and exploring new places. I stay engaged with current affairs in the French and Spanish-speaking worlds and continue to expand my own linguistic skills – currently studying Arabic and Greek, in addition to the five languages I already speak.

In my new role as Head of Year 7, I look forward to supporting my students in reaching their full potential during their transition into Secondary School. Being a part of our wider school community is a privilege, and I look forward to another year of inspiring, leading and guiding our future leaders to success.
