Ashley Kearsley

Head of English Department (Juniors)

My name is Ashley Kearsley and this will be my second year at GEMS Metropole. I completed a Bachelor of Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University, in Physical Education and Sports Pedagogy. Following this, I went on to complete my PGCE in Primary Education at Leeds Trinity University.

I have 8 years teaching experience, where I previously worked at a school in Bradford, in England. Having taught across the year groups in KS2, I have gained lots of expertise, not only in teaching, but also how to develop positive relationships with the broad range of children I have taught.

I have also gained lots of middle leadership experience, holding roles such as Head of UKS2, PE and Reading and have completed a National Qualification in Leading Literacy. I am very proud to have become the Head of English in the Junior School for this academic year and beyond.

During my career, I have worked with children from a range of backgrounds that have had varying needs and abilities and I have helped them to thrive through a fun, yet no excuses approach. With all my classes, I look to instill the values of trust, hard work and responsibility and I can’t wait to meet my new class and help them on their journey at GEMS Metropole.

In my spare time, I love to travel to new places and have always aspired to work and live abroad. I began visiting Dubai from a young age, which has played a huge part in my decision to move here and continue my teaching career at GEMS. I’m a big football fan and my favourite team is Leeds United.

I am extremely passionate about teaching, and I strive to always develop myself as a person and a teacher which I used to inspire learners to unlock their full potential and to never want to stop learning.
