Katy Anderson

My name is Katy Anderson and I am from Scotland, UK. This will be my third year in GEMS Metropole School, previously in FS2 and now as Head of FS1.

I completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Education at The University of Strathclyde, Scotland and my Undergraduate Degree is in Psychology. I have 10 years teaching experience, 8 of which was across the central belt of Scotland and 2 years teaching in Dubai.

I am a fully qualified Nurture Teacher, this has had a powerful impact on the way I am able to understand and support children in their learning. I am passionate about growth mindset and the strategies that can be used to support children in building their confidence and uncovering their potential.

 

I understand the importance of creating and encouraging real-life learning experiences in the classroom. I believe in providing children with opportunities to be at the centre of their own learning journey, filled with curiosity, awe and wonder.

 

I am committed to developing and inspiring children to believe they can succeed in all they do, whilst providing a dynamic and enthusiastic learning environment. I always aim to create an inclusive teaching practice, which meets the needs of all learners.

 

I believe that teaching is an absolute privilege and that our children are at the heart of everything we do. I love getting to know my children’s parents and families to ensure a holistic approach to learning is achieved.

Beyond school life, I love to spend time with my family. We like to explore and travel to new places. I really enjoy being outdoors, practicing yoga and singing in my spare time.
