Sanura Yusuf

Alternative Curriculum Teacher (Year 4 to Year 6)

My name is Sanura, and I am honoured to join GEMS Metropole School as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher. Originally from the United Kingdom, I bring a robust academic foundation and extensive practical experience in SEN education.

I hold a postgraduate degree in Education specialising in Special Educational Needs, complemented by an undergraduate degree in Sports and Exercise Psychology. My passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs was ignited during my undergraduate studies through a SEND module, which inspired me to dedicate my career to fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments.

Since graduating, I have accumulated over four years of experience working with students with SEND. My roles have included providing one-to-one Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) tutoring, serving as a part-time teaching assistant, and teaching in a Special Educational School. These experiences have enabled me to develop and implement differentiated instructional strategies and adapt learning materials to effectively meet individual student needs.

I am dedicated to creating welcoming, engaging, and real-world learning opportunities that promote communication, independence, resilience, confidence, leadership, and self-esteem among students. I firmly believe that teaching is a privilege, and I am guided by the words of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk: “A good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others.” It is my aspiration to inspire students to have high aspirations and a strong belief in their own potential. I look forward to collaborating with students, parents, and colleagues as we work together to support each learner’s success.
