Samuel Heald

Assistant Headteacher of Secondary

Samuel Heald is entering his fourth year at GEMS Metropole. He began his career in secondary education almost by accident, after completing his undergraduate degree in Astrophysics, by working as a teaching assistant to a student with ASD.

Eight years later, he completed a PGCE in Physics and Maths, gained experience in three very different secondary schools in Manchester, and continued his development with three years of experience in Dubai. Throughout his teaching career, he has held positions such as Key Stage 3 Coordinator, Deputy Head of Year 7, Head of Years 7 and 10, and is now starting Term 2 as Assistant Head Teacher for the Futures School.

Sam is incredibly passionate about pastoral care and supporting students through their academic and personal journeys at school. The progress students make in their studies and personal development is inspiring, and being a small part of that process makes the entire school community proud. A key focus in his role is providing students with opportunities to demonstrate leadership and develop confidence in public speaking and leading groups.
