Sarah Halforty
Assistant Headteacher of Secondary
Sarah Halforty is excited to start her fourth year at GEMS Metropole as Assistant Headteacher. Having worked in leadership roles as Head of Year 13 in the UK and more recently as Head of English at GEMs Metropole, she is grateful for the opportunity to continue to grow and develop her leadership in education.
With over 10 years’ experience in education, Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts with honours in comparative literary studies and philosophy from the University of Kent; and a Master of Letters in English literary studies from the University of Aberdeen.
In addition to her teaching and leadership roles Sarah has worked as an examiner for AQA and the National Reference Tests, which are produced by the National Foundation for Educational Research to assist with consistency across English GCSE papers produced by the different exam boards.
Aside from English Sarah enjoys being physically active and can often be found before school at a CrossFit class. In 2021 she was privileged to run the London Marathon.
Sarah is looking forward to working on continuing to improve student outcomes across MTS.

GEMS Metropole School teachers plan challenging, well-organised, interesting lessons with good pace, and incorporate a range of teaching and Assessment for Learning pedagogies. There are regular opportunities for leadership, decision-making and problem solving and pupils are encouraged to take an active role in the learning opportunities they encounter.
