Amy Melia

Teacher of PE & Head of Netball

My name is Amy Melia, this year will be my third year as a whole school teacher at GEMS Metropole. My specialism is Physical Education (PE) and I am looking forward to continuing to build strong relationships with staff and students within the Metropole community. I completed my undergraduate degree of PE and Sports Pedagogy at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2014 and completed my post-graduate in Education at Sheffield Hallam University in 2018.

I have 7 years teaching experience in secondary PE and I have taught in a range of schools in the UK. In past years, I have supported students as Head of Year 10 and 11 whilst completing their GCSE’s.

I have gained vital experience in safeguarding, behaviour, teaching and learning and enrichment. I have organized enriching opportunities to encourage students to broaden their horizons and challenge themselves outside of the school curriculum.

In my spare time, I love to travel and experience different cultures and cuisines. I have travelled around lots of places in Europe and I am looking forward to visiting more countries in and around the UAE. I am very passionate about students leading healthy, active lifestyles and will always try to instill a thirst for being happy and active. I am very excited to continue my teaching journey at Metropole school this year.
