Grace Lees
Head of Foundation Stage 1
Welcome to Foundation Stage One! My name is Grace, and I am incredibly excited to be continuing in FS1 as the Head of Foundation Stage One this year. This marks my fifth year living in Dubai and my third year at GEMS Metropole School.
Originally from Staffordshire, England, I earned a First-Class BA Honours Degree in Education from Staffordshire University, followed by a PGCE with QTS from the University of Derby. I have dedicated my educational career to the Early Years, beginning 12 years ago as an Early Years Practitioner.
I am deeply passionate about inspiring the next generation to develop a lifelong love of learning and reading. The most rewarding part of my role is supporting each individual child as they grow and flourish in their own unique way.
Outside of the classroom, I love to travel—it has always been a dream of mine to live and work abroad. I also enjoy walking, reading (both for pleasure and professional development), and practicing meditation. In FS1, I strive to foster a love of reading in every child, just as I developed many years ago.
As we begin a new school year this September, I am truly looking forward to welcoming our lovely new FS1 children into the classroom. I am equally excited to build a strong and supportive partnership with you as parents. We are thrilled to have you with us as we embark on this exciting learning journey together.
In FS1, we are committed to creating meaningful, real-life learning experiences. Our environment is carefully planned to inspire exploration, play, creativity, and discovery—supported by engaging continuous provision areas and our wonderful Forest School. We place your child at the heart of everything we do, nurturing curiosity, awe, and wonder. I look forward to a wonderful year ahead!
