Iqra Zaffar
Head of Year 5
My name is Iqra Zaffar, and I am delighted to be the Head of Year Five for the upcoming academic year. This will be my third year teaching at GEMS Metropole School and my eleventh year in education.
Teaching has been a lifelong passion of mine, inspired by growing up in a family of both primary and secondary school teachers. I graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Primary Education and began my career at Europe’s largest primary school. Since then, I’ve gained a wealth of experience across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in the UK and in international premium schools.
Throughout my teaching journey, I have had the privilege of taking on several leadership roles, including Head of Year, Head of Reading, Year 6 Assessment Lead, and Able and More Able Coordinator. Each of these roles has helped me to develop a deep understanding of how to support students both academically and pastorally.
As an educator, I believe in creating an inclusive, creative, and inspiring environment that encourages curiosity, independence and resilience. I am passionate about developing the whole child and believe that with the right support, all children can succeed.
With your partnership, the dedicated Year 5 teaching team and I will work together to ensure that every child feels valued, confident and empowered to learn and grow from their experiences. Our goal is to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment where all children can flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
This year is set to be an exciting and enriching one for our Year 5 students. They will have the opportunity to take part in an unforgettable residential trip to Ras Al Khaimah, where they will build lasting friendships, grow in confidence and demonstrate our core school values in a new and challenging environment. Back in the classroom, they will explore fascinating topics such as the ancient Maya civilisation and the Winter Olympic Games with learning experiences designed to spark curiosity and bring the curriculum to life.
I am truly looking forward to working alongside you and the wider GEMS Metropole community to ensure a successful and fulfilling academic journey for your children. Together, we will make this a fantastic year full of growth, discovery and success.
