Olivia Parr
Head of Year 8
My name is Ms. Parr, and I am thrilled to be starting my third year at GEMS Metropole School. I am a passionate teacher within the MFL Department and will be continuing to teach both French and Spanish from key stage two up to key stage four. This year, I am looking forward to transitioning into the role of Head of Year 8 and continuing to build on the successes achieved by our current Year 7s during their first year in the Active School.
Having graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Bachelor of Arts Joint Honours Degree in French and Hispanic Studies, I then pursued a career in teaching and completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Liverpool Hope University. I have previously worked in an international school in Madrid and a secondary school in Liverpool before moving to the UAE.
Whilst studying at university I was fortunate enough to be able to live in both Lyon, France and Madrid, Spain and benefit from countless opportunities to travel throughout Europe.
It was a fantastic way of immersing in the local culture and developing my language skills.
As a teacher, I am committed to inspiring a general love of learning and I believe in the importance of developing well-rounded citizens who embrace the multi-cultural world in which we live.
I always strive to plan and deliver ambitious content which stretches and challenges all students regardless of their starting point. I strongly value the importance of supporting students holistically to ensure they exceed their potential.
I actively strive to create a safe and secure environment which prioritises the health and wellbeing of my students to support their development personally and academically.
This year, I am looking forward to working alongside the pastoral team to support and guide our Year 8 students as they navigate the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities that lie ahead.
