Yvonne O’Hara

Teacher of PE & Teaching and Learning Coach

My name is Miss O’Hara, and I’m a PE teacher and Teaching and Learning Coach at GEMS Metropole School.

I’ve been fortunate to live and work in Dubai for the past nine years, all within the GEMS network. I joined the Metropole community in 2019 and feel proud to be part of a school where students are at the heart of everything we do.

I began my teaching journey after graduating with a degree in Secondary Physical Education from St. Mary’s University, London. My early career in a large comprehensive school in Harrow shaped my student-centred approach, focusing on building engaging, inclusive, and high-expectation environments where every student feels empowered to succeed.

As a passionate PE teacher and sports enthusiast, I believe physical education is about much more than sport. It's a powerful tool for personal growth, resilience, teamwork, and lifelong wellbeing. My aim is always to help students recognise their own potential and develop the confidence to challenge themselves.

In my role as a Teaching and Learning Coach, I have a strong interest in using research-backed strategies to continually improve teaching and learning across the school. I’m committed to ensuring that every lesson supports the best possible outcomes for our students, both in the classroom and beyond.

I look forward to continuing to support our students and teams at GEMS Metropole, helping them enjoy all the benefits that come from an active lifestyle and a positive, high-performance learning culture.
