Emma Cobourn
Head of Foundation Stage 1
My name is Emma Cobourn, I am an FS1 Class Teacher and the Head of FS1 here at GEMS Metropole. I qualified as a teacher from the University of Derby in 2016. This will be my 2nd year teaching and working in Dubai, my previous teaching experience over the last 6 years is across Foundation and Key Stage 1 in both UK Primary and international schools in Panama and Chicago.
I grew up in Derby, a small city in the middle of the UK. Living close to the Derbyshire Dales and the Peak District was where my love for outside adventure begun. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, exploring new places and relaxing at the beach.
Early years is a wonderful place to experience many firsts, creating opportunities for children to lead their own learning to explore and investigate. I am very excited to help your child develop in FS1, becoming independent, curious and engaged!
I truly believe that relationships are the foundation to success. Creating a safe and nurturing environment that allows students, parents and teachers to collaborate and learn together. I love watching my students flourish both socially, emotionally and academically each year, those moments are magic!
I am looking forward to meeting you and your child in September and welcoming them to Metropole.
