Eimear Gill

ASDAN Foundation SEND Support Teacher

I received my Honours degree on from the Bachelor of Education programme in Mary Immaculate College in May 2014. I am an Assistant Principal and full-time inclusion teacher who has experienced all class levels (single and multi-grade, primary and inclusion) during various teaching positions.

I am known to be organised, punctual, sensible, and a person with great patience. I love teaching and enjoy making each lesson as interesting as possible for the children. I have worked with children in a variety of contexts and cultures. From these, as well as various teaching positions, I have experience in various environments such as rural and urban schools, mixed abilities, multi-grade classes and inclusion as well as co-educational and multi-denominational settings. Spending a considerable amount of time as both an inclusion and primary class teacher has particularly influenced my outlook on differentiation and developed skills to help me meet the needs of a wide range of learners. I take great pleasure in taking on different challenges and seeing progression in children and my flexibility, willingness and enthusiasm to get involved have been evident during my years as a teacher.

With a great interest in travel and learning about different cultures I travelled to Canada where I worked in an overnight camp for children aged 7 to 15. I also travelled to India where I taught Maths and English to underprivileged children in Kolkata. Both of these are further detailed in my CV. Courses that I have completed include training provided by the Centre of Autism Middleton, a 20 hour Dyslexia course for primary school teachers, a 16 hour course entitled Dealing with Autistic Pupils in a Classroom Setting and, more recently, TEACCH Fundamentals of Structured TEACCHing and Incredible Years Training - promoting children's pro-social behaviour. As an inclusion teacher, I found these courses to be of great benefit on a day to day basis. Moreover, I am now an Assistant Principal in my current school and part of the school management team. These are just some of my acquired talents, certifications and interests that I look forward to bringing to your school.
