Assistant Headteacher of Secondary
My name is Mr. Martin Boother and I will be joining the GEMS Metropole family this academic year as Assistant Head with responsibility for the Sixth Form. I am very excited to begin this new chapter in my life and career as I move with my family from Shanghai back to the UAE (where I spent three years as Associate Assistant Head in Abu Dhabi) to the amazing Emirate of Dubai.
In the past I have been fortunate to work with BTEC, IBDP and A-Level courses and I feel this experience will enable me to take the best of each and help your children (young adults) on the next step of their educational journey. I am very much looking forward to working with the talented and dedicated staff already at Metropole and the phenomenal students and I would like to take this opportunity to let you all know that I will be working tirelessly to ensure each and every one of our students has the opportunity to excel.
I feel privileged to be joining the GEMS Metropole family and I know the significance of the word family. I can clearly see that the Metropole community is a big family and indeed family is something very important to me as well. I will be moving with my wife and two children (one of whom will be starting Year 12) and we all can’t wait to become a part of the Metropole community. I have been working in education in a variety of countries and have held various positions including being part of the Secondary Leadership Team, Head of Department and much more. I aim to bring all of my experience together and work with and empower my new colleagues to continue the excellent work already being done.
Once in Dubai I would love the chance to meet with as many of you as possible and I will make sure the opportunity to come in and have a chat is organized as soon as it is possible. Of course, once I start, I will be contactable via e-mail also and I am always happy to hear from parents, as a strong relationship between school and home is vital for our students’ success.

GEMS Metropole School teachers plan challenging, well-organised, interesting lessons with good pace, and incorporate a range of teaching and Assessment for Learning pedagogies. There are regular opportunities for leadership, decision-making and problem solving and pupils are encouraged to take an active role in the learning opportunities they encounter.
Our Sixth Form will inspire our school student leaders to follow the guiding principles of our school, to develop academically, culturally and physically through a commitment to academic achievement and success; by being responsible citizens when representing the school through community service; and by displaying an overall commitment to tolerance and respect in all they undertake.
